Waiting

Waiting

A man in saffron robes stands at the roadside under a dark umbrella, waiting. His wife approaches along the path behind him, unhurried, her own orange draped loosely in the afternoon heat. Southern India, green hills, warm humid light filtered through overcast sky. The color grading has pushed this toward something painterly — Sorolla, perhaps, or the early Impressionists who understood that fleeting moments of ordinary human tenderness are the most worthy subjects of all. This is not a travel photograph. It is a small, quiet painting about patience and companionship.
